We're excited to share a wonderful holiday opportunity from Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, Florida!
They are currently seeking families to receive a custom-built playhouse this holiday season through their Jingle Build-Off program. This community event brings local businesses and partners together to build unique playhouses for families in Lake and Sumter Counties who might not otherwise be able to afford a gift like this.
Who Can Apply?
Habitat for Humanity is looking for families with children 11 years old and under for whom purchasing a playhouse would be a financial hardship.
Key Family Commitments (If Selected)
If your family is selected, you must agree to the following:
- Have your child(ren) attend the Playhouse Presentation (anticipated to be December 5th or 6th—date and location are subject to change).
- You and your child(ren) will meet the team responsible for building your playhouse at the presentation.
- It is your responsibility to arrange the pick-up and transportation of the playhouse from the display site to your home.
- The playhouse is large and heavy (4' wide x 5' long x 6' high) and is made of heavy wood.
- It will take at least two strong individuals to load and unload it, but it can be easily transported on a standard truck bed. Habitat for Humanity does not disassemble the playhouses for pick-up.
How to Apply
The application asks for information about your family, your children's ages and interests, why a playhouse would be meaningful, and details about any necessary accessibility modifications.
Two ways to apply:
-
Online: Visit the official Jingle Build-Off page: www.habitatls.org/jingle-build-off-2025.
-
Paper Application: Fill out the attached application and return it via email.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to Hannah at hannah@habitatls.org.
Please note that applying does not guarantee your family will be selected, as Habitat for Humanity reaches out to many organizations to find families to receive playhouses.
